A unveiling of a Forum Troll! No RealID neccecary!

Next interview is the No1 Forum Troll in the world, our very own Song! Famous for causing fights and flaming noobs into nothing more than liquid puddles of remorse, lets see what he has to say!

Real Name
Matt Purser

Character Name / Class
Song – 80 Warlock – I used to raid DPS but it appears the pansy healer is more my calling these days as returning to WoW I suck at DPS hehe

so I made a real healer

Daisyboots – 80 Druid – I went for stupid name – I shoot I score!

What games are you currently playing with Precept
World of Warcraft, Battlefield Bad Company, Team Fortress and anything else anyone wants to play

What do you do in Precept
I’m like the token cannon fodder they put up front to take all the abuse that being an awesome guild generates just through the sheer virture of being an awesome guild. So I’m the guild leader in WoW and one of the leadership team (so corporate) who run the guild on a day to day basis. I’m the Yong to Harkains Yin and Barathors Yang :D

How and why did you get involved in Precept
God only knows, there I was having just got over my god awful addiction to MMOs in EQ1, weaned myself off it playing DaoC, then EQ2, then <insert every other MMO known to man even Matrix online for an hour LOL>. So there I was checking out this new game Lord of the Rings online, it was a bit slow but Minstrel was fun but I was a healer, couldn’t solo for toffee….oh I chose a healer at that stage because I figured they get all the chicks..I mean groups…sadly mine was the gayest looking character you could ever wish for (and that’s a whole other story begun right there!)….

Anyway I met these dudes, Aidyan, some mad american guy with issues, Barathor (I’d met Kellie Pugging in Barrows with Conyc ages before that)…Giles was there too and Kraggax and Skaggi…so ensued several mad nights of pulling way more mobs than should be humanly possible. So Precept started out as Sanguine Expeditionary Unit, well we all sort of joined the guild…Kaywyn was there too!

Ok to cut a long story short, the american dude ramirez or something like that…well he went completely mad and Giles had this crazy idea of setting up a guild of our own and so Precept was born, because all the cool guilds have one word that is epic in meaning but noone gives a damn.

Our aim was to keep our real lives, but still go after server firsts and accomplish stuff :) (for stuff see ‘raiding 101′)

So yeah we had european firsts and server firsts in Lord of the Rings, Giles quit the game and gaming in general, I took over as token guild leader as apparently I was sarcastic enough to get away with taking the piss out of roleplayers and them not realising it :P Cue 100+ pages posts later and we were internet legends :D Seriously though we had a frikkin awesome time, until Turbine went and made the classic error of giving raid level loot to non-raiders making all our achievements completely pointless and so began our epic journey into game hopping for a few years across several MMO’s, Tabula Rasa (remember that fail beta!!) , WAR (fun while it lasted and boy did we dominate muhahaha), Age of Conan (bizarre) and WoW and back to LotRO (though second time around I really don’t like it anymore).

Does that cover it?!

What do you do ingame
Little as possible, turn up heal stuff and make bad jokes. Seriously though the aim of the game for me is to build a good team, so no matter whether you’re a leader or an officer, you organise raids, you work numbers out, you’re the go to guy for tactics, you’re an ant in the army etc etc all of that doesn’t happen without a good team around you. LotRO was a lot of answering peoples numerous tells about our members being awesome, WAR was even funnier, AoC not so much, WoW not at all it’s really not a community game.

So yeah I’m a teamfirst kinda guy and if the team do well I look great…I mean we do well :)

What’s your favourite Precept memory
Hehe so many, I guess downing Thorog for the first time, downing Thorog two the second time. I don’t care what anyone else says Thorog was the hardest mob in the game, the Balrog was hugely disappointing in comparison in terms of tactics etc. So much potential in Balrog unrealised as were the majority of the encounters post-Thorog.

For me it was just the crack we have day in day out, people come and people go, we have a core membership and we grow each game and gather new people into the fold. I love the whole community part of it…..ooh in that case it’s gotta be our good old mate Srren. That was scary and damn funny all at the same time. The irony being of course that he’s still plugging away making up random forum names and posting on our forum. Give it up mate and move on :)

What do you hope to see in Precept’s future
No idea, it would be nice to all play the same game we’ve all been all over the place for quite a while. Whilst Multi-gaming is a nice idea it does kill the whole community thing a bit. So if someone from another game doesn’t visit the forum, for example, and there’s a joke going around it becomes an ‘in joke’…whereas all playing one game you don’t really miss much.

I think we can all be very proud of what we’ve built here, there’s very very few online gaming guilds that last as long as we have and that’s testament to the people, the sense of humour and the overall assumption that we’re gonna win…even if we suck!! :D

Who else would you like to see interviewed
Err…lets see I could be really obvious and say Kraggax or Barathor, but no I think I will go for Senton

What question would you like us to ask the next person

How does a newly married accountant get away with playing computer games without incurring massive wife aggro!!
Oh and why oh why do you support Arsenal!

oh and Kras’s question!
“Why are all your characters so effeminate?”

Well going back to my first ‘Precept’ character, I’d always been DPS type dudes before so with Song he was a healer but the way the models looked and elves in particular he could of been a man or a woman. In fact he looked proper gay. And I chose the name because A) he was a minstrel duh and I figured that’d be amusing (I even had a backstory just in case!) b) I always wanted one of those cool 4 letter names all the cool kids have!

So once I’d got over the fact I was playing…well practically a homo elf…the rest kinda wrote itself. So we had Songxian in AoC who was a slightly camp ToS, Song the Archmage who just looked anaemic in WAR, Songikboom the Bright Wizard who was ginger, Songshadow the Shadow Warrior, Warrsong the warrior priest (can you see what I did just then!!)….in WoW I went for Song first…and then I went off the wall with a completely gay name, Daisyboots, and now I have Daisybooties, Daisybootz, and Daphne the Paladin :)

As for effeminate I think they are all just emotionally challenged :D

No matter what name you try to hide behind there’s only one moniker people will use anyway – Song, Song, Song (for president.. or… ooops…). Daisy is just a temporary phase you’re going through – believe me. :P
