What games are you currently playing with Precept
Lord of the Rings & Team Fortress although I’ll try most games once.
What do you do in Precept
I’m a member of the LotRO division and I update the website front page whenever we defeat Sauron’s latest raid boss.
How and why did you get involved in Precept
Hmmm seems like a long time ago now. I’ve been playing MMOs since when I was at university, about 10 years ago now. Played EQ1 pretty hardcore in an American guild then EQ2 followed by a bit of a break although I’ve tried most since at least for 30 days. Eventually I started playing LotRO with some real life family members back when the game was first released in 2007. This is the reason I rolled on Laurelin as my cousin was the first of us to get the game up and running and it’s just the server he picked. Wasn’t until later we realised it was an RP server but we were too lazy to re-roll. Gradually they wilted away and to be honest they were never going to play it seriously but we all brought lifetime accounts together. I was enjoying it though and pugged my way up to max level and decided I’d like to see some of the end game content on offer. I was also looking for a guild that would allow me to have a real life also as I had left university by this point and had a job. I’d noticed from the forums that Precept had a pretty negative reputation mainly stirred up by Song’s spin machine. However, my time in EQ taught me that the main reason the server hates one particular guild is because they’re the best. I sent a PM to Harkain and 3 years or so later, I’m still here.
What do you do ingame
Not a lot really! In Lotro I play a Hunter so I basically stand somewhere near the back out of harms way and plink arrows into raid mobs whilst Kellie and Kraggax get their faces melted. Occasionally I’ll fly my kin mates around Middle Earth on a whistle stop tour of the sites. I mainly do this however to annoy Skaggi as he has to run everywhere normally.
In Team Fortress I mostly play as a Sniper so I find a nice secluded spot and stack up the head shots. I play most nights for 30 minutes or so just to unwind on the Simian Cage servers.
What’s your favourite Precept memory
I have two. First is from LotRO. I’d have to say beating the Balrog for the first time. Great night that I still remember vividly. Sucks that we didn’t get a server first, Silver Blades did so they won that battle. However we’ve since poached their best players so we won the war!
Second is from Warhammer. Getting up at stupid o’clock on a Saturday to sack the Inevitable City for the first time on Burlok and the ensuing forum drama. This is one of my favourite memories not because it took a lot of skill or anything, as it didn’t, but more that it was such a Precept thing to do. Playing a game to have fun, not taking ourselves seriously and just seeing how far we can push the other side before they flip out over a game and send the server into meltdown all the while completing end game content.
What do you hope to see in Precept’s future
Same as the other guys that have been interviewed really. I’d like us to find a game that we all enjoy as there are some great characters in this Guild, multi game is nice but we’re stronger together.
